Wednesday the 16th of April Cl\u00e9mence and Frank took part in the Boo Tarn orienteering event organised by the Lakeland Orienteering Club (LOC, https:\/\/www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk). The event was held near Coniston (Lake District in Northern England) with an evening start time. Unfortunately, the weather in the United Kingdon is even less reliable than that in the north of France, so the race went ahead on a rainy evening on the side of a famous mountain known as Coniston Old Man. The land was open fell, no tree cover with lots of marsh areas, and bracken covered stoney slopes that were particularly slippery. The 90 orienteers were split over 4 circuits, Long, Short, Orange and Yellow. Cl\u00e9mence is the Orange and Frank the short. Clemence cam in 3rd at 31 minutes and Frank 31st with 51 minutes. The circuit was very wet underfoot and the control points placed in gulley on boulders etc, requiring interpretation of the relief and the use of the compass! Just to prove it does not rain every day in the UK I have also added a photo of our nice new CapOnord shirts drying in the sunshine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mercredi 16 avril, Cl\u00e9mence et Frank ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l’\u00e9preuve d’orientation Boo Tarn organis\u00e9e par le Lakeland Orienteering Club (LOC, https:\/\/www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk). L’\u00e9v\u00e9nement s’est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de Coniston (Lake District dans le nord de l’Angleterre) avec un d\u00e9part en d\u00e9but de soir\u00e9e. Malheureusement, la m\u00e9t\u00e9o au Royaume-Uni est encore moins fiable que dans le nord de la France, de sorte que la course s’est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e un soir de pluie sur le flanc d’une c\u00e9l\u00e8bre montagne connue sous le nom de Coniston Old Man. Le terrain \u00e9tait expos\u00e9, sans arbre avec de nombreuses zones mar\u00e9cageuses et des pentes caillouteuses couvertes de foug\u00e8res qui \u00e9taient particuli\u00e8rement glissantes. Les 90 orienteurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9partis sur 4 circuits, Long, Court, Orange et Jaune. Cl\u00e9mence a fait le orange et Frank le court. Cl\u00e9mence est arriv\u00e9e 3e en 31 minutes et Frank 31e en 51 minutes. Le circuit \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s humide et les balises plac\u00e9es dans des ravins, sur des rochers qui n\u00e9cessitaient donc une interpr\u00e9tation du relief et l’utilisation de la boussole ! Juste pour prouver qu’il ne pleut pas tous les jours au Royaume-Uni, j’ai \u00e9galement ajout\u00e9 une photo de nos beaux nouveaux t-shirts CapOnord s\u00e9chant au soleil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
